TILLEY & BOWN, SWINDON
Around 1910 a short lived business called TILLEY & BOWN was in existence. It is now thought that Tilley & Bown pre-dates J.R.Bown and that 'Tilley' was in fact Joseph Athelstane Sugden Tilley, who was born in 1880.
The census from 1911 showed him living in J.R. Bown's brother's house. He emigrated to Canada in 1913 and became a Canadian citizen, fighting in and surviving WW1.
